I always love to start my recipes with preparing the ingredients I’ll need. For this recipe I used beef sirloin strip that I’ve precut into long pieces. Honestly, I think it’s much easier to chew them this way because they are thin and tender when cooked. Dice some onions and prepare the remaining ingredients.

Stir Fry The Beef & Add Onions

Cook the beef tips for 15 minutes. Toss in the onions with the seasoning and cook everything for 5 more minutes.

For this you need 2 cups of water. Mix corn starch in one. Ketchup with salt in another.

Simple add both cups into the skillet. Stir everything and let it cook for 2 more minutes.

This stove top beef tips and gravy is absolutely delicious. Cooked in minutes. Serve with rice or macaroni.


  • 500g beef (sirloin steak)

  • 1 onion (more for onion lovers)

  • 2 cloves of garlic

  • 2 tbsp of ketchup (or tomato sauce)

  • 1 tbsp corn starch

  • 1/2 tsp dried basil

  • 1/2 tsp dried thyme

  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper

  • ? black pepper

  • 2 cups of water

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 2 tbsp of oil (vegetable or grapeseed)


  • Cut beef (sirloin) steak into long thin strips and dice the onions.
  • Pour 2 tbsp of oil and preheat the skillet on medium-high heat.
  • Cook and stir the meat for 15 minutes.
  • Toss in the onions and seasoning. Cook for another 5 minutes.
  • Mix ketchup and salt in one cup of cold water. Take another cup of water and mix in corn starch.
  • Pour both cups of mixtures into the skillet and cook for 2 more minute.
  • Serve on top of rice, noodles or macaroni. Decorate with parsley.


  • You can store left overs in an airtight container and add them to your next meals.
